Heard from the backseat....from Andrew

Andrew was within seconds of sleep, but we had decided to stop by Target for the Spidermen instead (long story). I said to the boys: "If Andrew falls asleep, we'll go back later. I promise we'll do it some time today, even if it's not right now."

Andrew, with his eyes suddenly flying open: "Me all done."

"You're all done what?"

He looks very serious and contemplative. "Me all done sleeping. Go buy Spiderman." And then suddenly, he punches the air with passion: "Go! Buy! Spiderman! YAAAAAY!"

You can see where his passions lie. Watching Spiderman on repeat on the 24 hour drive home from my mom's funeral evidently made an impact, as we haven't been able to find the DVD in weeks and he's still committed. =)

Heard from the backseat....from Jack

After errands, we were planning to stop by McDonald's to get one of their Spiderman toys. Jack said he wanted to get the black Spiderman, so I clarified: "Well, the thing about getting toys at McDonald's instead of Target is they pick them for you. So we never know what you'll get each time."

"That's okay," Jack said. "If I get a bad guy...or a black Spiderman...or a red and blue Spiderman, that's okay."

"Jack, that's fantastic! A person who's flexible about his circumstances will always be happier in life."

"Wow, really?!" He sounded super impressed. "Who IS he?"

Heehee. Not only the confusion that he thought I meant a specific person, but that he seemed so in awe of this legendary flexible/happy man. =)
